How it works

Every post goes through the same posting screen. Nothing is sent to TikTok before you click "Post" or "Schedule".

Pleja uses the public TikTok API. It is not affiliated with TikTok.

The posting screen step by step

  1. Account

    You pick a connected TikTok account. Each time, Pleja fetches the current settings of that account from TikTok and shows its name and avatar, so it is clear where the video will go.

  2. Watch the video

    You watch the video in a vertical player. If the video is longer than your account allows, Pleja says so and blocks posting.

  3. Caption

    Write your caption with hashtags, up to 2,200 characters. Pleja adds nothing to it.

  4. Who can watch

    Choose visibility from the options TikTok offers for your account: Everyone, Friends, Followers or Only me. The list has no default value, so you always choose yourself.

  5. Interactions

    Comments, duets and stitches are off by default. You turn them on yourself. If an option is turned off in your TikTok account settings, it is greyed out in Pleja with a short explanation.

  6. Commercial content

    If the video promotes you, your brand or someone else, turn on the disclosure and choose "Your brand" or "Branded content". Branded content visibility cannot be set to private.

  7. AI-generated content

    If the video was made with AI, you can label it. The switch is off by default.

  8. When

    Now or at a time you choose. At the scheduled time Pleja checks the account settings again. If something has changed, it does not post and asks you to review the post.

  9. Declaration

    Above the button you see a sentence about accepting TikTok's Music Usage Confirmation and, for branded content, TikTok's Branded Content Policy. By posting, you confirm them.

  10. Status

    After you click, you see the post status. It may take a few minutes for TikTok to process the video before it appears on your profile.

What Pleja asks for when you connect TikTok

  • Basic profile information: name and avatar, so you can see which account is connected.
  • Posting on your profile, only after you click on the posting screen.
  • Sending a video to your inbox in the TikTok app, if you choose that option.

You can revoke access in Pleja with the "Disconnect" button or in the TikTok app settings.
